The new math SAT has 3 sections, one each with 16, 18, and 20 questions. Do a practice section in The Official SAT Study Guide sold by ETS. Answer ALL the questions (this is in your best interest since even wild guessing is break-even and the odds gods are with you if you can eliminate even one answer) and count how many you got right. The table below gives you a good estimate of your score. -- CTT
A really fast rule of thumb for any section is: 3 wrong is a 650, 2 wrong is a 700, 1 wrong is a 750.
| Score | Number correct out of 16 | Number correct out of 18 ‡ | Number correct out of 20 |
| 500 | 9 | 9 | 11 |
| 550 | 11 | 11 | 13 |
| 600 | 12 | 13 | 15 |
| 650 | 13 | 15 | 17 |
| 700 | 14 | 16 | 18 |
| 750 | 15 | 17 | 19 |
| 800 | 16 | 18 | 20 |
‡In the 18-question sections, 10 questions are not multiple choice and therefore are not subject to guessing. In effect, the scoring is slightly easier because you can't get any questions right by pure luck.
